Confused:  Is there a way to change single mission load-out with a text editor or something?

Started messing around with EVW again; but unlike campaign, single mission gives you a default load-out rather than letting you choose.  Sad  It's okay for the rest of the team; but I like to bring along a sniper rifle.  Currently,  capturing one is my only option.

Not sure about that one. King Donut might know if it's possible. Is there no option at the start to equip, or in the game as in LOSV you can change your equipment in the game and when you start the next level or get killed and re sporn you have the new equipment.

In the EWV campaign mode, you can select your team, load-out, way-points, etc;  however, once you beat the mission you can play it again as a single mission.  Using the first mission as an example, the single mission version will immediately place you on the outskirts of the construction site rather than making your journey to / from the site as in the campaign mode trying to avoid patrols, ambushes, etc.

The problem is the single mission only gives you a default team of SGT Egan and PVT's Keeba and Blue with M16's and a PVT Jessa with an M60.  In fact, no matter the mission, this is your default team and load-out.  Sad

Embarassed TBH, it's been a while since I've done LOSV; but DD2 allows you to re-play missions just like the campaign.  What I mean is, the single mission allows you to pick your dream" team and load-out.  Smile

It must be coded into one of the files in GameData somewhere. You can edit some of these but if played online with someone you would get the error message saying something like wrong version or something.
If it's just for single player then it should be able to be done.

I only play SP; but its still a shame.

One of the biggest problems I've always had with EWV is the game freezing at the end of a mission so I often don't get the chance to continue to the extraction zone and "officially" complete the mission.  Sad  It's even worse with the second mission since that is a three-parter. Using an old campaign save I was able to destroy the first artillery piece and reached the point where it would go into the next phase; but it again continually froze.   Crying or Very sad It doesn't happen all the time; but it's probably a 95% chance it will.

In GameData/Campaign you have 29 soldiers and what weapons they have. These are editable. Back them up first. These are not all the soldiers in the game as when you extract Campaign1.za with winrar then start MissionEd.exe and browse to C:\Program Files\Elite Warriors - Vietnam\Maps\Campaign1\GameMaps and open construction_01.mis, you can see the weapons for more soldiers including Sergeant Egan who is not in the previous list. I backed up the construction_01.mis and changed egans weapon to an SVD. Worked fine in single mission. You can also change the squad with MissionEd.exe. Back everything up and choose who you want and the weapons for them Cool
In MissionEd you can choose the model as well and give it a name which is what the gamemakers have done ie' us01, us02, us03, and us04, also the voices they will use as well.

Actually I knew about the 29 Soldier##.txt files as I was hoping I could change the loadout from there; but as you stated, the default single mission guys ... Egan, Blue, etc are not there.

Anyway, I did what you said up to the point of missioned.exe.  I do not find it on the disc nor did I find it in the various download folders that I checked.  I also searched the net; but no go.

I extracted the file using iZarc and use notepad to edit the file; but as there is no "za" type to save to ... I saved to 7zip and changed the extension.  As expected, the game does not see the "newly" recombined file.  Sad

Anyway, thanks for trying.  While I was looking forward to giving myself an XM21.  It would have been interesting to create a whole team of South Vietnamese.

You havn't lost yet,  Very Happy  Go to downloads/EWV maps Page 3 and download the ewv map editor. Install that and you will now have Missioned, as well as the nworld map editor etc'.
Here is the winrar setup as well. Associate the za files with it and it will extract the map files.
You can also download the nocd for EWV if you want to play without the cd in place.

Ta mate.   Very Happy The mission editor was the missing piece of the puzzle that I needed.  Could have avoided this whole topic if it had been included on the disc.  Laughing   Of course, that and Winrar since it apparently saved into a native "za" extension; which the EWV would recognize.

Anyway, been changing all sorts of stuff just to see things.  Tried out my all Indig team which not suprisingly all have the same voice set (# 7).  True, I could change the voice set.  I also noticed three VC models that can be added.  That was interesting, the main difference being they use NVA floppies versus boonie hats, Ho Chi Minh sandals vs jungle boots, and no backpack.

You can even even set it up to have two primary weapons until you drop one.  Handy if you want to give a sniper more than just a pistol.   Twisted Evil One name that caught my interest was "Dog Bite" which turned out to be the standard knife. There was another called "clipboard;" but that seems to crash the game.

Again, ta for the assist.  It'll definitely add some variety.   Wink

Hi, glad you got that far. It never surprises me what you can find in these games. Always something new and interesting. Love the way you can send the squad ahead  Laughing  Cool helped me survive on many occasions  Wink
