I have a modded version of DD2 which runs v2.20, v2.35, ,and v2.38 with all obsolete files removed as well as links to non existent sites including the gamespy setup. No files have been overwritten so multiplayer should work quite well with the original DD2 as long as you select the correct version that others are playing.
For years players have been playing 3 different versions. With this one you can all play the correct version instantly by choosing the correct shortcut.
It plays v2.20 from the icon on desktop after you install it, the other 2 just need shortcuts made for them from the main DD2 folder.
It will work fine with Directx 8 and upwards.
If anyone is interested i will upload it for download, thanks all  Wink

Cool.  It should save a little wear and tear on the original CD.  Smile

Just tried it on Windows 8.1 and it seems to work fine though the mouse is a little mushy especially on the Load Game screen.

Should be ok as it's got all original files, just a few redundant files taken out.
Hope it works ok. Might be windows8, can you try another version of windows  Question
Also i use directx_Jun2010_redist.exe

First off, it works fine in W7 Ultimate SP1.  Its not the mod but W8.1

I don't know about Windows 8; but mouse lag became an issue on older games due to  changes in W8.1  M$ released a patch; but unfortunately DD2 wasn't one of the "old games" that were patched.

According to M$ ... "This issue occurs because Windows 8.1 introduced changes to mouse input processing for low-latency interaction scenarios. Therefore, games respond to mouse inputs differently in Windows 8.1 than in earlier versions of Windows."

Here is some info on the problem.

Here are some possbile fixes for games not covered by the patch.  I tried it out, the Load Mission screen is still hosed; but the mushiness has settled down a bit on the other game / selection screens.

I haven't moved on to Windows 8 - 8.1 but I started running the nFusion games as Administrator on Vista and 7. I had to do that for running the map editor to get it write to the text file so it would automatically reload the map in nWorld. I don't have much for facts to tell anyone why but it helps me and might be worth trying. If Windows 8 has the option to run a game in compatiblity mode for Windows XP that might be worth trying too.

I am going to bookmark Duke's links, thanks Duke.

No worries.  Bookmark away.   Smile

Well, to be honest, moving on to W8 wasn't my idea.  I think my laptop took too many bumps while I was in Thailand.   Laughing I had already purchased a new hard drive from the PX and was waiting for a W7 OS from Amazon as my restore discs would not work.  Lo and behold the wife surprises me with a laptop with ... you guessed it ... W8.1.

All in all,  I really haven't had any major issues with W8.1; but I didn't like the start screen and I'm using a program called Classic Shell which gives me back a Start button

The wife and sons all have upgraded to windows 10, i was wondering if that makes any difference to the nusion games as i havn't had the chance to try it yet.
I like the start screen on windows 10. A bit like going back to xp but much more modern Cool

I am still using Windows 7. I would be really surprised if there are problems running nFusion games on Windows 10.
From what I see at work and have read in a few places, businesses (IT) are reluctant to move away from Windows 7. It's a solid system and looks like it will be around yet for quite a few years.
